APEC regional leadership conference for hotel general managers
EXPERIENCE
ABOUT.
The Marriott APEC General Managers Conference 2024 was a regional leadership event held from 10–15 September, bringing together hotel leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region. This was one of the largest projects I have worked on, featuring keynote presentations, strategic discussions and networking experiences designed to align leadership teams across the region.
MY ROLE.
I contributed to key design touch points across the event, including stage screen content, digital assets and F&B experience visuals. Working closely with the wider creative and production teams, my role included creating screen graphics for the main programme, creating the website interface, and developing three distinct visual themes for the F&B experiences.
MAIN PLENATERY.
Supported a senior art director in adapting the visual direction into PowerPoint templates and animated visuals for a large-scale leadership conference, where screen content played a central role in guiding the event experience.

F&B.
Taking on three key visuals and their full execution across a lunch, an award gala dinner, and an after party was a significant responsibility as a junior designer fresh out of graduation. It pushed me creatively and taught me a lot about designing with intent at scale.
LUNCH.
Supported the creative direction in bringing an urban market concept to life, drawing inspiration from the vibrant street food culture across Asia.
Each country booth was individually customised with its own signboard, wall graphics, and colour palette, while still reading as a cohesive unit when viewed side by side. Tile patterns served as a core design motif, giving the space a grounded, tactile feel.
Beyond the booths, I designed sandwich boards placed throughout the venue (a rare moment of creative freedom outside brand guidelines) and a welcome wall featuring clocks showing the local time of each participating country, colour-matched to their respective booths.
AWARD GALA DINNER — THE NIGHT GARDEN.
Explored an experimental approach to this key visual by integrating AI into the design workflow, one of my earlier explorations into how AI could meaningfully support the creative process.
The challenge was in the details.
AI-generated imagery required extensive refinement, adjusting elements one by one and iterating until the visual felt considered and complete. Significant attention was also given to resolution, upscaling the final image to hold up across both large-format screens and print.

AFTER PARTY — WILD GARDEN.
Designed the after-party key visual as a natural extension of the gala dinner's Night Garden theme, intentionally carrying over the lockup typography to create a visual thread between both events. The KV was distinct enough to stand on its own while remaining familiar, giving guests a sense of continuity across the evening.
